Poems - Mt. Rushmore

Mt. Rushmore

We all know the familiar faces four
who for years adorned Mt. Rushmore,
George Washington who could not tell a lie,
Honest Abe under who's reign slavery did die.
Teddy Roosevelt a man of great common sense
Thomas Jefferson who wrote the declaration of independence.
Among those great men we should fill more spaces
so the department of the interior decided to add two faces,
no, the new candidates aren't Mother Theresa or the Dalai Lama
the two new faces considered are Barack Obama.
