Poems - a hero is more than a sandwich

a hero is more than a sandwich

a hero is more than a sandwich

the phone booth feels too tight
but he needs the change
before he goes to fight
a foe within his range

he goes after a crook
lives for justice and truth
when he goes back to look
might be missing a suit

found by a homeless man
wearing new bifocals
doing the best he can
to impress the locals

measly "paper" money
is used for new cheap suits
that make him look funny
and everybody hoots

there's not enough phone booths
he tries another plan
to capture the uncouths-
to always get his man

hits the golden arches
tries to cover his s
eats too many starches
and has a bulging s

"supersize me", he says
grabs it on the way out
to enjoy with his pez
while coming down with gout

no longer gets respect
it's not like the old days
he feels like a reject
it's time to change his ways

too many female crooks
he never saw before-
used to be wives and cooks
or occasional %&*#@

his glands would over work
and all their favors took
then they'd drive him bezerk
til they got off the hook

he's taxed for every flight
soon to be evicted
his hair is turning white
no one gets convicted

our heroes have grown old
who took the place of God
they're left out in the cold
and burried in the sod

heroes today fight fires
and safely land their plane
heroes are not liars
nor take a name in vain

heroes will cook a meal
and plan a pleasant trip
heroes know how to feel
and when to zip their lip

Superman will still be
the way I used to think
but now I think I'm free
to clean my kitchen sink
