Shakespeare in the Bathroom

I see myself in the reflection of the mirror.
It is a scripted mirror that I hold in my hand.
I look in it and behind me I see my fear as the audience becomes clearer.

This Shakespearean Audience will be in a state of sophisticated ecstasy.
Looking on as I self-flagellate for my wrongs and laugh for what’s right.
Though what is truthfully seen is nothing but a reflection of my felony.

I close the curtain and my audience fades back into the glass.
So who am I now? Macbeth, Romero, or am I an illusion from a Tempest?
The illusion of who I am that metamorphoses with each changing of the mask.

Yet the play will still continue and the audience will still sneer.
For alas again I am in the bathroom with said mirror in hand.
It is my illusion and my poison that which I hold in fear.

So my Shakespeare in the Bathroom comes to a crescendo.
I hold high above my head this mirror from which I bled.
As the curtain closed; upon the blood stained floor laid shards of so many of my innuendos.
