beginning

The road covers my boots
with good dust, several cows
dream of southern Asia behind barbed strands.
A tree crouches on a hillside,
resting its limbs...no, it points
to a path where the river bends into a crane:
a fully extended sigh that spears a fish
attempting to twist its fins into wings.
Stars have gathered here to cleanse
the city from their flare.
Sunlight greets me with a thousand shaking hands
that reach through the needled branch;

I am no longer breathing I have never breathed so deeply

I like the rapid succesion of elements and how they tie neatly together. Felt I was breathing that crisp Arizona air.
