hibiscus

hibiscus

nine and a half inches wide
across a pink, textured face
pale yellow tongue sticking out
of red lips at the center

couldn't wait to show it to you
your eyes and mouth open wide
you find just the perfect vase
and place to snap a photo

sad to say, it starts to droop
as we watch, begins to droop
like a ballerina bent over-
her dress a bundle of folds

this beauty is better left
clinging to its native bush
better to view al fresco
dancing near my kitchen door

This is lovely. I see it as an allegory about the fragility of love and beauty.
