Poems - The Tattletale
| | The Tattletaleby nprimemin
Ever had a little brother who schemed and lied
My mother held me responsible it was me she'd chide
For me to take the blame he'd resort to blackmail
But I'd get even one day with the little tattletale
If I snuck some cookies enticed by the smell
Saying if I gave it to him that he wouldn't tell
The cookies now gone that's where the problem begins
My brother told my mother I gave it to him
He said I made a girl cry
He said everything I said was a lie
He said I hit him when I did not
He said I was in a gang chased by the cops
One day I packed my bags determined to leave
For I was never believed and my mother deceived
Then he and she entered for he told on me again
So I ran out of the house to stay with a friend
I heard a week later he stole the rent money
He lied to her again thinking it funny
He said it was me because I still had the key
So she and my dad went and searched for me
When they found me I thought it was love in their eyes
But it was a look of disgust brought on by his lies
I was beaten so bad that they cal;led the police
I told them I fell down the stairs just to keep peace
When they were gone they finally listened to me
And finally heard my side of the story about his greed
I pointed at her bag and said my key's in there look
Before I left I put it in your pocketbook
She pulled it out and both were surprised
With tears in their eyes they both apologized
I knew one day his lies would come back
I warned him they'd haunt him falling in his own trap
She said "Oh my God I left a fifty dollar bill on the bed
I still thought she believed him over what I said
He thought my mother left for the day and my father went to work
But what they saw was him stealing with a wry little smirk
I busted in the room with an accusing finger
But he said I'd get blamed anyway so why do you linger
When my parents entered he started faking a cry
And said I made him do it he continued to lie
I smiled looking up "see what I mean"
This is another one of his concocted schemes
They searched his room to find what he spent
And found a racing car set he bought with the rent
I felt relief but didn't go home strait away
But I'd come back and check on them from day to day
I could tell you how his future plans all failed
But that's another story of the little tattletale

Nelson, you just described my younger sister. She could get away with murder. I remember as a very small child, crying because she burst a balloon out of spite. and I cried my little head off. Please don't tell anyone will you. it'd ruin my street cred. A really good write. Well done. Pete.

Glad u liked it I'm still wary of him even though he's a nicer person today.
