Denial

I tossed away my roguish pen,
for it was scrawling foolishly;
apparently it had a yen
to draft a moving eulogy.

I heard a song upon the air,
a lilting, mournful melody;
I held my ears, refused to spare
a moment for the elegy.

I ground it down, my chisel blade,
and brushed away the sandy chaff
until the message was displayed
in marble stone- my epitaph.

This one felt a little "ghoulish"... "Poe-esque", perhaps. Nicely done. ( I was going to say "nicely executed"...but didn't Laughing ) ~~J.
