Poems - Passe', as Rainbows Fade
| | Passe', as Rainbows Fadeby maryanns
Tra-la-la
dancing on the head of a pin
Cinderella trips, glass slippers
slip from dainty feet
shattering on polished marble
of the ballroom floor.
What was it for
a crushing pulse of ecstasy
dressed in streams of crinoline
anticipating luxuries
amid the rise and fall of waves
lapping at her door.
Sea level shift
lifts dancers off their feet
at first it slakes a fiery thirst
disenchanted debutants
disrupting mighty continents
matter shakes apart.
Too many parts
shiny crystal slipper shards
grind beneath the crust to dust
exacting icy aftershocks
reduced to salty bubbles burst
treading water north.
And nothing more
than diamond in the rough
buoyant baubles float ashore
disengaged forevermore
among the lapse of innocence
found along the shore.

A harmonious blend of rhyme, meter, and free verse. It's breezy and full of wit and music. I will fave it.

Beautiful day here - I just got back from riding. It was a short ride, Blue seems to have forgotten his manners. Been lazing around in the barn too much, whatever. It was like riding a rodeo horse; he bolted when he saw deer and then he bolted when he heard a dog bark. But he couldn't make me fall off!! LMAO!

A very beautiful poem indeed, with much depth accompanied by poetic dexterity and technique. One of my rare 10's. Sorry some cretin gave you only 4 for this masterpiece.

Smiles and hugs, Rory - it means a lot to me that you enjoyed reading this piece. Ha, and I should have noticed...it seems everyone was whacked who dared post on the fourth of March! Shaking my head...
Thank you, my friend.

Purple bulbs flowering in the flowerbeds, I bet my Camilla tree is blooming in Ocean Shores! So brave, these early bloomers - we had ice on the truck windshield yesterday morning! Sunshine all day yesterday, though, and the temperature felt almost warm, lol. Here's hoping you and yours are all doing well... yes, we are fine (survived another winter, teehee). Peace and love, dear friend - Mary Ann

it's fascinating, isn't it, how some will rate a poem according to how they react to it emotionally?...if you nail us, baby, some of us will bite you back, because we do not like our backsides exposed for ouraleves to see so clearly...but not many react like that...most of us can/will/prefer to see the treasure that you are really, the pearl beyond price you be, and we respond to your marvelous poetry accordingly, with smiles and hugs and laughter and making lots and lots of nice.........................michael

"It's nice to be nice to the nice..." -Frank Burns, M*A*S*H
(ha, and who could ever forget)
-Frank Burns: "Funny thing, war: never have so many suffered so much so so few could be so happy." -Margaret: "We're lucky to be two of the few and not the many." -Frank Burns: "I know, darling, and I love being both of us."
Actually it was supposed to be about finding lots of strange Japanese debris still washing up on our shores, but who cares. My greatest enjoyment from posting poems here on gp comes from receiving illuminating comments - so, who am I to advise an anonymous rater what anything in print was about, lol!
Love and Peace, Michael; and miles of smiles, Mary Ann xoxoxo

Hmmm. Too deep for me Stevie. Grating, troubling flow to my ear with graceful metered passages broken up in an disconcerting way. Powerful devices, but I'm not having success trying to put it all together. I can't really rate it since it's going straight over my head.

Thanks, graciously taken. Sometimes when I comment I feel like i'm intruding in an intimate conversation between friends, but I'm taking the request for honest feedback literally. If I wasn't foolish, I will never become a poet.
