Pain and Love Revisited

Walking through the crowd I had a sense of knowing
someone staring reading my expressions yet not
wanting me to know their existence.

Feelings getting stronger now closer you must be my heart
takes a familiar leap, yet to you I did not speak. No longer
together we already faced the loss of feelings we shared
times we spent, the love we shattered.

I smell a familiar cologne as I look over my shoulder
am I just anticipating are you really somewhere within my
reach, waiting. Are you hoping I will seek you out in hopes
of turning things around?

When we left each other, words were shouted back and forth
spewed hatefully without thoughts of the costs emotionally to us.
Now as I turn the corner of the mall, I feel somehow you are
here within my reach. Is this wishful thinking, thought I was
over you. Has time passed can we revisit what we have lost?

Just as I held my head up high my eyes met yours. Dark
deep blue bedroom eyes, those that captured my heart at first.
Just for one split second our eyes locked there were no sounds,
no one but us in this crazy universe a look of familiar softness
crossed your face as did mine. But reality quickly set in and I
saw from where I stood frozen unable to move, someone lpretty
ooking back at me holding onto you.

Time stood still as never before, you with her crushed my very
soul. I could not speak, I could not breathe; I only wanted to quickly go.
I nodded in recognition for a love that had been lost, and replaced so casually.
You with her closed the chapter and even though I saw in you a quite
familiar way, my heart could not bear this moment a second longer.
With a wave of my hand and fighting back tears your nod hello and
mine was given. Without looking back, I started to run out the door and
into the sun.
