This city will eat you alive

I saw ten faires fly over my head
the fragile white petal kind
rare in our city of industrial steels
where the cement and the glass scrape the sky.
They flew right over my head on the breeze
in the city near midnight
a rare sight to be seen in this scape
when they were crushed by moving headlights.
