Something one of us says to a loved one words just words simple without meaning or thought cannot be unsaid. Then when you have the time to think about the impact of those words, you wish you could have bit your tongue and held the words instead. Feelings get hurt, words fly out, they sting like arrows to the heart.
I hurt you needlessly. thoughtlessly and to just say sorry now is bittersweet. I know you will forgive, yet not forget those words I said. Looking ahead to future times when discussions are open and feelings raw, I will I know for sure relive each and every word I said. Those simple phrases that meant nothing at the time when I said them to you. God knows I will hear them again and again when we argue as echoes bouncing up against the wall.
How do we stop our mouths from moving before we think of the consequences of the things we say? Why is it that we say to the ones we love hurtful things when we really do not mean it to come out that way? We know for as long as they live, and as long as we are a couple, that special someone we hurt will never let us forget whatever it was or what it meant to them when we blurted it out that day?
I said it over the phone so casually, thinking you would understand. I heard a sudden sharp change in your voice, your face I didn't need to see. You took to heart those simple few words that I thought were just that meaningless information from me. You spoke your voice low, hurt, sad you name it and suddenly it all came rushing back to me. Something in the way I had said less then four words in a sentence, is now jumping around and around in your head.
Tell me is there a way that I should have or could have stopped myself that very moment when those words were so simply said? They may be the strangers forever laying between you and me invisible, yet separating us and our future, in our very own bed. Yet the reality is and will be I never meant to hurt you with simple meaningless words. Could I have been more careful, more sensitive, more aware that you take these things
so differently then me? When in reality all I want to say to you is all these things wrapped up into one means I wish sweetheart those words I hurt you with, that very moment they were said I wished to God right then and there to you they had never had been said.

I Feel like Cher " If I could turn back time" and I am one of the worst ones to speak before I think, or what I would say let my mouth get my ass in trouble . Usually regreting what I had said yet there is no way to go back. Nice write Wanda.
