A BIRD LAY STILL UPON THE DRIVE
HE DIDN'T MOVE...FOR HE HAD DIED

HIS HEAD ON GLASS HAD DONE HIM IN
A WINDOW TRICKED HIS LIFE FROM HIM

I BENT TO CHECK, WITH GENTLE FINGER
AS I SUPPOSED, NO WARMTH DID LINGER

THEN ALL A BLUR....I COULDN'T SEE
TEARS WHELMED-UP INSIDE OF ME

I THOUGHT OF ALL THAT HE HAD VIEWED
IN HIS MAJESTIC, SOARING SOLITUDE
