Ford Tempo 1994-2006

When my old Ford
hacked one last time
and died, flipping over,
clutching its chest,
tires spinning to a halt,
it was a jolt

And when my mechanic
put away the paddles,
looked me in the eye,
and shook his head, it hurt

My car had given up the ghost

Time brings consolation
but I still regret
the half a tank of gas I wasted
