| | Carp, reallyby maryanns
Dark algae green canal water drifting, slowly migrating.
Willows and alders in heavy overhang, gently rustling.
Shadows accumulate as the afternoon passes, napping.
Mallards in repose camping on cut lawns, slumbering.
Dark torpedo shapes lying in sandy shallows, foraging.
Carp, really. Final efficient scientific solution, cleaning.

Carp! This most reviled fish has invaded the Australian waterways. I have eaten it and it's not as bad as the cynics claim. Wherever the carp forages it has driven out the trout.

Thanks so much, Lindsay. LOL. Don is all repulsed, at me for writing about them, and at your for eating one. He's looking for a recipe now, the one where you nail the fish to a board, beat it savagly, and then keep the board and throw away the fish! Perhaps your carp are much more tasty than ours.

a different style for you mary ann. i like it. the only time i tried to eat a carp, it tasted like burnt rubber. ( or maybe i'd caught an old tyre by mistake ha ha ) and i will eat absolutely anything, if i'm hungry enough. - enjoy your trip - paul.

fished for it and even ate it. they are great fighters, but bony as hell...lol. btw, carp is revered in japan. there are many "real" bottom feeders, like cat fish and sturgeon, that people eat and even consider delicacies... enjoyed it,  B.
