Another raindrop falls

A drop of rain falls as a train passes
The sky a mass of grey
The wind whispers as it rushes past me
A leaf falls on the ground

A shallow puddle ripples in the breeze
Still growing, drop by drop
The raw, damp coolness of the air pervades
As fog begins to form

I smell a breeze tinged with the scent of mist
And think of years gone by
Of all the times I’ve walked through here before
And days I stayed away

The dark loneliness penetrates my soul
As gloomy as the sky
With each heartbeat another raindrop falls
Nowhere to take cover
