I want to know why we can’t all come together.
Just as Americans, why don’t we just get over
the red versus blue, now that the election’s done.
Get on with it; we have problems to overcome.
And one more thing I’d like to see…
No more mention of the “Black President” thing.
Sure, it was interesting…..but it’s all over now.
I’m not going to want to listen to that forever.
Just get over it and move on.
He’s Our President….. please let him do his job.
People are wondering about us around the world,
we looked like we’re still fighting the civil war.
I don’t blame them, I saw those TV maps before.
What would you think if you lived in Timbuktu?
Yeah, that’s what I thought; and I’m just like you.
I want to know why we can’t all come together.
The Beatles wrote the song a long time ago, brother.

I think President Bush believed a war in Iraq would unite Americans. Looking in from the outside at US history and politics there seems to be a lot of conflict and hate...but that's the big picture. Every individual American I have personally met have been terrific and I just hope I can keep meeting more.

Thanks so much, Lindsay, I so appreciate your comments. Especially about us rank 'n file Americans, that's a wonderful compliment you've given us. Not sure what Bush may have had in mind though, maybe a personal legacy.... many of his actions still make no sense to me. Obama may turn out to be a healer. I understand he gave a wonderful "come together" speech today. Sounds like a very good start. Bravo zulu, Mary Ann

i think a lot of people from all over the world were more interested in this election, than a lot of americans were. whichever direction america takes, half the world tends to follow. and the other half sits up, and takes notice. - come together right now - paul.

Oh Paul... Well, they sure got sucked into somethin' in 2003, eh? Maybe governments will think twice before they blindly follow a flawed messiah again. Oh, and I wasn't a' railing against your wonderful poem, Paul... it's the TV news, blah, blah, blah. I heard Barack called himself a 'mongrel' in a speech today...heh, heh. Ah, Lou, a fear we have in our hearts, never forgotten for a single minute. JFK, RFK, Dr. King.. please never again. Believe or not, I was a youngster there in Dallas, Tx when it happened, had no idea of what had transpired until an overwrought elevator operator burst in with the news.
