Poems - I am Sorry

I am Sorry

When we left this morning
it was frigid and dark.
The snow glittered like fairy dust
in the headlights.

I said goodbye
wrongly
too simply
so quickly.

Now below me the galaxy of you
seeps stars into the distant fields
until you become a speck
under the young moon
and I can only see you
in my mind- drinking coffee
in the kitchen with the cats.

Tears threaten to mark this
terrible loss of just one more day
and perhaps I ought to tell you
that I am sorry.
I took your green pen
so I could write this after I left.
I knew it would come.
