If I Knew

If I Knew

If I knew that there was no tomorrow
I don’t know what I would do
So much to see, so little time
New things to try out, too

I’d say good-bye to Mom and Dad
My kids and siblings too
And tell them that I love them all
That’s the first thing that I’d do

I’d love to cross the desert sand
To see the wonders there
And gaze across the Grand Canyon
Go down in it, if I dare

I’d love to go to Yellowstone
Old Faithful spouting true
Mount Rushmore, Little Big Horn
So much I want to do

Go back east , to see the battlefields
Where our freedom was fought for and won
I’ll have to cover many miles
Before this day is through

But most of all, I know I need
To cross the ocean blue
Go to the land I long to see
That leads me straight to you

Yes, if I knew there’d be no tomorrow
I’d have to leave this land
Cause all that’s here pales to the joy
Of holding your sweet hand

If I knew there was no tomorrow
Even though there’s lots that I could do
I’d forsake the time that I had left
And spend it all with you.
