Poems - Misfit

Misfit

I once pressed a "my little pony" tattoo
on my arm
at Amelia's 5th birthday party
but by the time i got home
my pony's head had smeared off

You seem to have faded too
I'm starting to think that maybe you
were only a press on
that i found
at some 5 year olds party
as well.
So cleverly you fooled me.
With your bright bare bones
you flashed me
from behind those perfect lips
that i had found myself
leaning towards
every time you spoke.
You fooled me
but by the time i got home
that night
those bright perfect teeth
left smudges on my heart
giant brown stains
a remembrance of you,
of my mistake.

Our friendship
hopelessly lost
within the belly of the beast
we so unexpectedly birthed
is reaching for its weapon of last resort
the handshake.
as i cross you out
with bright pink pen.

Oh wow. This is so real! When I read your poems, I feel a sense of awe and sadness. While you exhibit a great deal of talent, I also wish that life could be easier for you.
