it's like i'm a little kid
afraid of the night
thinking what might come into the light
if i go all in
and maybe you're just playing
make pretend and it's
only a game so
i can't really win
cause you were never choosing
to give me that part
of what i want from you,
your heart,
being with you is like
recess at times and at
times it's like i'm in timeout
and i'm trying so hard to do right
to get your calls at night
or you picking up saying,
you want to meet up
so i can be as happy as
a kid being told
they can stay up
or one that just can't
wait to go on a trip,
that's how i would be
if i kissed your lips,
so excited in joy words
can't describe, like mommy's cooking
you're just so good to me,
and just to let you know
i'm not rushing, i'm just looking
to be all your checks
with pluses

even though they say accidents happens
my mommy told me
