Poems - Fey Upon The Breeze (a sonnet)
| | Fey Upon The Breeze (a sonnet)by wolfinwindow
Could I compare you to a summer day,
With breezes flowing gently over me;
Or to a summer evening in a way;
With fragrance soft and coolness follows thee,
Or to a simple flower on that day,
Whose perfect petals cause the gentle breeze;
That I would pluck and hand to thee, my fey,
That you might carry back into the trees;
A perfect summer day that is you love,
Oh cover me in petals won't you please,
Surrounded in magic from up above,
My fey come to me on the summer breeze;
Oh my summer day; won't you stay awhile,
Yes, my summer day; stay and make me smile.
This is a tribute to William Shakespeare's sonnet, "Shall I Compare Thee To A Summer's Day"

The metre breaks down in a few places, but a sonnet is a difficult form to master and this is a good effort as such, with some lovely images and an attractive theme flowing through it.

Great sonnet, but how much is lifted from Shakespeare?

The first line is a twist on a Shakespeareian sonnet, I wanted to put in the old world twist and it was the best way.

great write. great tribute to Mr. Shakespeare and to butterblyz - only one line from William's poem was used, but also rewritten. you should have checked out the poem before commenting. in music it is legal to use up to 8 bars of any score and it is not considered plagiarism. not sure how it is in poetry but this is not a stolen poem.
