I Remember

by WordLover

it's so strange how sometimes the
phone rings, and for a split second
I automatically think - it's Mom
and then I remember.........

or I'll have some exciting news that I
long to share with my best friend, and
find myself reaching for the phone
and then I remember........

there are those times too when I'm so
lost in the deep depths of despair, and
seek the shelter of her loving arms
and then I remember........

no more am I loved unconditionally
my wounded heart aches for her touch,
her gentle strength, her sweet voice
and then I remember.........

No matter how long she has been gone, my mother's spirit will forever live in my heart and soul. I miss you, Mama.
