none of the above

by omegapaf

" business men they drink my wine. come and dig my earth......so let us stop talking falsely now. the hours getting late " - all along the watchtower - jimi hendrix

election time is hear again
polls, and pollies meeting the prolls
treating the truth with disdain
kissing babies, shaking hands, and feigning interest in childrens dolls

another chance to prove i'm democratic, and free
by writing none of the above on my ballot, and throwing eggs at my local M.P.

i mean really! after hundreds of years, this is the democracy trees fruit
two posh public school boys, and a humourless man in an ill fitting suit
i don't really think this is what the ancient greeks had in mind
the banks, and stock market getting the fruit, and the people getting the rind.

" i get along just singing my song. people tell me i'm wrong..........fuck em " - i get along - the libertines.

Good luck with your elections Paul. I guess what the political ancient Greeks didn't realize the 'R' would go missing in Greeks.
Thanks Paul

ha ha thanks lindsay. this is one of those silly elections where nobody really wants to vote for any of them, because all three parties promise public service cuts, and higher taxes. so people are just trying to pick the least worst from a bad bunch......again - the puppies for peace party - paul.

all dolled up are they. i yhink these cardboard cut-outs are a safe ticket into politics. you not only don't want to offend anyone or instigate change, but you also have to leave some room for all the backdoor dealings you'll be entertaining with mafia and corporate crooks. not so satisfied with living on my knees, mike

For a pol it's always election time, is it not? Even baby's may soon refuse to be kissed by such as them. Love your quotes, top notch my friend. As Lindsay suggested, good luck! All the best, Mary Ann

i'm pretty sure the babies don't enjoy being kissed by gin soaked lying thieves. nobody in this election represents my views, or the views of anybody i know. i'm just hoping for a sort of coalition government which hopefully will be too busy fighting among itself to do too much damage to the country. as for real change for the better......wellll call me mr sceptical, but there is no chance of that - paul.

I Wouldn't mind gettilng the rilnd if one could actually do something with it! In this country usually they spend most of the time fighting and fillibustering to prove which party has more control, meanwhile the people's laws don't get tended to...

that sounds very familiar gail. laws just get debatted here for years, and years till everybody just loses interest, and forgets about them. e.g. it took over a hundred years to ban fox hunting, and now the probable next government plans to bring it back - foxy.

oh stuff it all.
hey you know what song i've rediscovered recently???
I want you- the kooks. its very funky sort of rough jamtime. pop it one and listen to it on repeat really loud at least 3 listens/jam outs while frantically headbopping and airgitaring. its a good one.Wink)))
ps., seeing as you bought that album you have no excuses. i expect a full report on the jam/air guitaring session asap.

voting for the " puppies for peace " party miss milmeister ha ha. i've got the kooks album in front of me. i'll give " i want you " a blast before i go out. i've been more in to playing air drums lately, but i'll see if i can remember how to play air guitar....hmmm if i recall, i stand with my feet about three feet apart, then toss my hair backwards and forwards shouting " yeeeeaaaahhhhhh baaaaaaaby " a lot. - thank you my graceful anarchist - al von snufflehound.

This line states it all.

Nicely done.

Sorry for being so late commenting this one mate. I've read it a few times and meant to give feedback ages ago, but been well busy lately. I think you accurately summarised the farce of an election campaign and gave some good pointers for direct action too!
I just e-mailed you some info asking for submissions to contribute to an online poetry anthology designed to fight back against the tory/lib dem return to thatcherite britain and it reminded me about this write!
Take care mate, spence

I will choose a path that's clear
