Poems - The Anger Mart - Revised

The Anger Mart - Revised

I stopped by the Anger Mart
to pick up some things
to be upset about.

Their illegal immigration
is always fresh
but lately it seems to have hatred in it.

Hatred is becoming all the rage,
but it doesn’t sit well
in my stomach

and it’s not cheap –

you have to watch
your compassion these days.

All my friends
have been raving about the oil spill
so I grabbed a couple cans
of the BP.

Some personal things,
A box of Tea Party,
Sarah Palin stew,
and my cart was pretty full.

On the way to check out
some deaths in Afghanistan
caught my attention –
there, in the middle aisle.

They felt more sad
than upsetting to me -
better to get them
at the Sorrow Store.

It’s never busy there
and they keep everything
genuine and warm.

Usually it's wiser
to shop there first.
