What will Happen in the End

At the very bottom
of the deep part
of the pacific
where, fortunately,
no man has gone.
Or ever can.

They made a robot
It can't see color
the camera takes shots.
strange exotic creatures
many creatures, all blind.
Blind, they walk about the sea.
long legs, huge gills
no lungs to speak of,

Vestiges of eyes and ear holes
They hear by vibration.
Like any deaf creature.
Bethoven an example..
Bats another.
Maybe they have bat sonar.

We haven't killed many yet.

Hills down there big as mountains.
Is that were the earthquakes come from?
Volcanoes, what happens
to the millions of tiny creatures
and large, some huge,
some ugly looking, to us.
giant centipedes
like those old B movies
of the dinosaurs.

These are dinosaurs!
No need to evolve.

This is where the separation of
the tectonic plates occurred.
These guys probably just slid right in.
Have been here ever since.
very comfortable
for dinosaurs.

So beautiful really
this lovely, unknown, world
Harmony, peace, un-
disturbed ecosystem.
People want to see, learn.

People
in US and Europe and Russia
who do breathe air,
mind you,
are working
very hard,
right now,
to develop

new rigs for the oil.

what a fascinating piece gail. thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. it was like an undersea exploration! such a strange place it is down there. then to finish on a note of greedy materialism in contrast to the wonder the previous stanzas evoked, very nice indeed. best wishes

the very bottom can be dark and scary. but i've always loved strange exotic creatures.....i still do.
