A Poem That Isn't Serious

A Poem That Isn't Serious

This is a poem that isn't serious
Who knows? Maybe it's delirious.
Several of my previous
have been deep and devious.

For Halloween, I wore a straw hat
that I put on over a mat
of hair that was really a mop-
and it didn't turn out to be a flop.

What's important, most of all
was that I really had a ball.
My girl even told me I looked better,
though certainly not like a jet setter.

Someone else said
she liked the mop on my head.
I looked like an "elderly rock star"
and that's well and good, so far.

Now, I don't mind looking like a rock star
but an "elderly" one goes too far;
and I'm glad my mop looks cool
but I don't want to become a wig-wearing fool.

So, that's my unserious rhyme
about having a good time
wearing a funny costume-
and not writing about some sort of doom.
