To Whom It May Concern; I hope this letter finds
The reader in good health (and with an open state of mind)
It has come to our attention, we who wrote up this petition
That many people feel aggrieved at Government decisions
To criminalise a substance that causes little harm
And spend lots of tax payers hard earned cash
On closing down weed farms
But in this time of great recession, we think it may be wise
To reconsider you position and weed be legalised
It’s a drug that many like to use in times of recreation
And we feel it may be preferable to riots 'round the nation...
If cannabis was legal and alcohol not allowed
The only time you’d see a rowdy crowd
Was when the ice cream van came ‘round!
Public order offences would decline to almost nought
If alcohol was not for sale and cannabis was bought
If cannabis was legal whole black markets would collapse
And think of generated tax from sales of skunk and hash
Entire syndicates of crime would disappear overnight
If cannabis was legalised- (‘hey dude- you got a light?’)
If cannabis was legal- if we could grow our own
We’d be relaxing and thinking peacefully at home
For the fact you lost our cash you may be partially atoned
(Or do states do not like us thinking? Is this why it’s not condoned?)
But then if cannabis was legal and alcohol prohibited
We might find our times of celebration a little bit inhibited
So legalise the lovely weed and keep alcohol to toast
The fact that many citizens like a little bit of both!

Thoughtful poetry
Alcohol triggers anger
Cannabis makes mellow
albeit weed can trigger psychosis
mostly triggers relaxation
alcohol causes huge road toll
weed can cause depression as can alcohol
weighing up
the pros and cons
I reckon you're correct
too much tax earned on drink
weed wouldn't produce taxes

A masterpiece in poetry this lobby in limerick
from title to gut busting end ....a psalm in philosophy and politico and a song to my ears in rhyme and perfect meter
