Dreaming Of Angels

Through heavy-lidded eyes, I lay
As you kneel down by my weak body
There’s a breeze around me, a cold one
From this nightmare I want to be saved

You pull me up against you closer
When I start to give in to the pain
You twirl your fingers through my long hair
As I submit to the deep torpor

Your touch comes frequently, assaulting
Senses that are unfamiliar to me
The darkness turns into light, a haze
As I gaze up at you, I see wings

The heavy feelings vanish, subside
As I manage to sit up and cup
Your face, skimming my thumb over your cheek
I could stare at you all day, so divine

Your dark bangs flutter in the cool breeze
Blue eyes melting into my dark ones
My other hand moves to yours, to join
In what I can make out as a dream

You pull me up as I try to work
Out that what is happening is real
We stare at each other, longingly
Is this a dream? For what it’s all worth…
