Memory Pills

by Mysteri

I swallowed memory pills of you tonight
That you so carefully hid in platters of food
That came from your kitchen, about that I’m sure,
Lying in wait to lure and ensnare me

And as I lay awake in dread of what was to come
You came, sure as the sunrise and sunset
Walking into my heart to tear it apart,
Just as you had always done, when we were both awake

And just like a seed sown in fertile ground
You sprouted and colonised this fragile mind
Spewing dreams into it at your will
Mesmerising and enslaving this malleable spirit

I go along with the ride on the rollercoaster
Just to be with you once again and forever
Yet when I awaken you are no more
That is your power as temptress and sorcerer

Well-well-well I waited for this and did not see it posted until last week, sorry I did not get back sooner. The title made me think I need some of those pills and I was surprised with the direction you took me. I read this several times. Read it slow, I read it slow again. Then I read it taking it apart word by word and line by line. Then I read it in the writers voice, as if it was being spoken from the depths of your heart at an open mike, you wowed me.

I, the word I, points to ones self, well most of the time and I think it can be over used. In this poem the use of the word at the start makes one think, the self, then later in the poem it seems to change according to the way it is read, it can sound as if ( I ) is a group of people talking to someone that has run for King in an election and won. Then ( I ) can be still speaking of ones self. I, myself I like this both ways (over easy or sunny side up).

a seed sown in fertile ground, then the use of, fragile mind,

Can mean ones own mind or a group of peoples mind. It was in the third stanza I seen the change in the poem.

My question to you is, did you mean to write the poem, speaking two languages of thought?

I am so very glad to see you posting again. Don't make me wait so long for the next one... BWP... James... Have a few of these today Laughing Laughing Laughing and Smile Smile Smile ...

James, it's good to hear from you again, too.

Well, I think you read more into this poem than I intended! It was something that came from the heart, a memory that seemed to have gone, but is deeply buried and overwhelms me in dreams. It was not a romantic alliance.

It is the power of dreams that is amazing, often - out of conscious control - one is taken places whether one likes them or not.

Take care. Thanks for the smiles - here are some for you!

Mysteri, your poem reads like a quaint little cartoon village of thought and patterned well designed movement and colour/s.
