morning sky hangs low
my father floats, a chironomid
the fishing line is cast

Such a peaceful scene, KyleBank...
I felt immersed in your scene.
Best wishes, Mary Ann

Thank you, Mary Anne. I have many memories of fishing with my father, and I'm glad to know this piece reflects the peace they bring me.

hahah, a Chironomid is a small fly used for trout fishing. It's some kind of larvae - a midge or a mayfly or some-such. In the summer, great scads of them float up to the surface of the lakes and hatch. Little brown flies would wriggle out and stretch their new wings, then fly away quickly before the trout swim up to eat them.
