What I can

by philosopherofl

The steel rose
For all the ones I can't give
Lacking color, Lacking life
But it's what I can
What I can

The unvoiced song
For the words I can't say
Trying rain, Trying sunrise
But it's what I can
What I can

The discrete touch
For the kisses and caresses I can't give
Skimming brisk, Skimming soft
But it's what I can
What I can

The perfect dream
For the reality I can't have
Feeling you, Feeling love
But it's what I can
What I can

Very subtle - the third stanza sneaks up and delivers a sudden, powerful punch. The repetition might have been heavy-handed, but it works for me. I like this a lot.
