Fragile heart

Was it such a dream for a fragile heart.
Now the fragments are scattered.
Dancing in the air like Autumn leaves.
Oh settle the wind, so I may collect once more.

Was it such a dance that we could not stop.
For it seemed the music would last eternity.
But knowing the last waltz of the night would stray.
Now I stagger from the dance hall.

If I could capture dawn again, and hold it tight.
And save the breaking light, in my ageing hands.
I would be content and have peace again.
Peace for a weary heart.
