Life Insurance

by liarbird

Now the swirling days of Father time are clouding over me,
And my misspent youth is fading fast, from in my memory,
My weary heart is beating still, but two arteries are blocked,
So I’m in the class of me mate Reg, whose ticker has been knocked.

Poor Reg is worse than me I know, because the silly bugger smoked,
And just recently his heart gave way, and as well he nearly choked,
But he’s a survivor me mate Reg, and just because his heart went bung,
He won’t die for many years…and not because the good die young.

You see old Reg has one advantage, that puts him above my class,
When the diagnosis read to him, was a needed triple bi-pass,
He has a son who is a surgeon, and works on innards of the crook,
So Reg insisted to his son, that he wants him to take a look.

Regs’ son spoke of his ethics when family members need an ‘op’,
So he shouldn’t work upon his Dad, for complications sometime ‘crop’,
And if by chance he botched the job and Reg ends up on a slab,
The family may not be forgiving, and so his future might be drab.

Now Reggie ain’t no bloody fool, because he took his son aside,
Reminding him, “If there is a failure and just by chance I died,
Not only will your conscience hound you, for the rest of your life,
But your Mother said she’ll come and live, with you and your wife!”

    G'day Harry...
I should be careful with antics about mother-in-laws Harry. Sometimes the joke backfires.
    Catch you soon Harry.

PS: what's this about Port not wanting to play GWS. Don't they want to win a game!

Ha-ha-ha... Oh my goodness, Lindsay
this one borders on blackmail, down't it?
I remember when people asked me if
my Dad the Doctor delivered my babies...
not very likely, I always said. What a
colorful medicinal yarn this is, my friend.
Enjoyed it very much. Cheers, Mary Ann

    G'day Mary Ann...
I might be walking a fine line here Mary Ann. It's not a poem I recite at a family gathering.
    Thanks again my good friend.

Thanks again my friend for dropping in. Mother-in-law jokes can be a perrilous area to work in.
    Catch you soon Mike.

Thanks again Tasha for reading and commenting. I guess in this family scenario, the fear of failure is too great to fail.
    Thank you Tasha.

I dunno Paul, once you have your mother-in-law trained then you have two slaves instead of one...I wish I hadn't wrote this.
