Corporate Radio

by rondo

Corporate Radio

Speakers spew the same old sounds
Until my ears ache and head pounds
Sanctioned by some corporate stiff
It worked before so they stole the riff

Sterile music that sounds the same
I hold corporatized media blame
Suit dweebs seek the market share
For new things haven’t got a care

Playing only artist with whom
They have a contract signed
But as for new exciting sounds
Found to be deaf and blind

The play list repeats the same canned crap
Until my ears start bleeding
Hoping the droning will grow on me
Until I like the shit their feeding

Promoters wanting bigger profits
Weeded free lance out and stopped it
Listeners of eclectic taste
Bored to tears and laid to waste

Play and replay until the sheep bleat the rhythm
And assume we are buffoons and like what we are given

The rhyming seems forced then loses structure. It's alright to change the scheme or structure throughout, however some indication with an implied rhyme or something of that nature helps. All radio seems corporate ( music-wise ), tell the reader something new. Even though Elvis Costello released " Radio Radio " in 1978 it still sends shock-waves through the industry and to the listener how he would dare to challenge the giant industry. Think about materials used in the radio station such as loops, magnetic tape, payola etc. The last stanza is probably the best but needs a little strengthening to make it more dynamic. Hope this helps you.

I agree there is a trade off - I like this point of view!
