Liquid Melancholy

I loved the way you coated me
like peppermint-glazed,
liquid melancholy.
And the way your irony tasted
With my cinnamon, honey, and chai tea.

I lived for your spiteful glance,
And your eternally
silky misery;
Your bitingly witty insults,
And the way they always condemned me.

But you’ve saturated my skin,
And the porcelain tea cup is
dry and empty,
All those destructive words
Have left my hearing faulty.

Your sanctimonious ego,
And blazingly sinful
hypocrisy,
Have triggered my self-destruct,
What would it be like to die in infamy?

I dig it. It's a good play on words, the adjectives add to the flavor here. Unfortunately, there are entirely too many folks in the world similar to the "individual" you mention here. Spiritual vampires, as I call them, preying off of our spirit. The only thing worse than them preying off of us, is our desire to continue to allow them to do so. Food for thought, eh?
