Poems - I Like Dope

I Like Dope

Am I crazy, a little surly, kinda daft – Maybe
Maybe – It’s because an important chemical/compound
Required for real dreams to take flight
Has the wrong name

Let’s just say in the day, the past – nostalgia a blaze
This name was owned by folks who worked
Real magic – slate, baggy white, static displays into
Living, breathing flying machines – Brightly Flashing
Multi-Colored skins

Yes – I’m talkin’ ‘bout real “Dope” – Not “Junk”, “Horse” or
Other destructive poisons – Millions ruined
Never leaving the gate

But the real deal –Big Khulna, Yup – “Aircraft Dope”
Pop open both hanger doors (Need the Ventilation)
Spread it on cotton covered wings and fuselage
Make it air worthy once again

Mix in favorite color and go fly - Blue sky beckons
With that unseen force called home
Yes “Aircraft Dope” – What wood and fabric covered
Dreams are made of – To make ‘em FAA Air Worthy
Ceconite and Hair Dryers OK – Just not today
(In this poem anyway!)

Two things, I'm not dope savvy, unless we're talkin' jays, to relate to these unfamiliar to me terms, but I smiled through this piece with wonder of your descriptions. Enjoyed the piece even still.
