Poems - random sixties--spoken word

random sixties--spoken word

by butterflyzrfree

Innagada davida
died long ago
after the systemetic demise of
the Black Panthers
one by one
and the Yippies seemed to self-destruct
although we cant be sure, can we?
Destroyed the cars with rickietickystickies
even expensive ones, like Volvos
all the rage
stickers, volvos
wearing necklaces for the removal of the troops
aaahhh Vietnam, that one
a big mess al around.
black magic woman
gonna make a devil outta me.

We wore the holes in our chests
the daisy's in their guns
some soldiers liked flowers
some just killed students
mothers little yellow pills--i hear every mother say

it seems easy so easy try it!
food can be saved from dumpsters
behind restaurants
big bar-b-que then!
at the beach
at nine
around the bonfire with dessert
of free love

Great man speeches
all murdered blame on
random people
you call haters now
we called haters then
the worst was JFK
the beginning of itl
on the timeline
then the worst was MLK
they were bad
Kill all dreamers
kill dreams
of the middle class
the white middle class
where things start
for the rich poor elderly sick
it has to start with the bougousie
getting mad
so angry they want to change it all
the rest will follow

watts riots
los angeles
chicago democratic convention
which came first in the timeline?

today there may not be a riot
and the government cares about puppies and kitties
please buy a puppy or kitty!!!!!!
there is anger
and rumbling
down in the southwest California
Colorado, New Mexico, even Arizona
a quiet rumble
in New York there is a loud one
Miami loud and black and spanish
flavors of the world push into the white middle class
those innocents for change
a change that never happened
a change of so very long ago.

there was a brief window of opportunity in the sixties in america and in the seventies in england when there was really a chance to change things for the better. of course we underestimated the power of the state and j.f.k and martin luther king and john lennon were all shot and we ended up with reagan and thatcher......we came so fucking close....damn it - pauly.

People are saying that this is the beginning of another type of movement, started by the wall street protests, Tent camps with peaceful protests popping up all over the country! Who knows?

Not quite as long as 'Howl" but that is who I had in mind as I wrote this, without taking myself half as seriously, I hope! Very Happy
