zbird's recent Blog entry. Veterinarian ( 998 reads) Thursday, July 10, 2014 (01:17:48)
My vet is on vacation for this week and next week and I had to take in my elderly cat because she had been vomiting. I explained to the vet filling in that she didn't eat last night and wouldn't eat this morning. He asked if she had vomited since last night and I said no, but she hadn't eaten either. He said well she is 14 as if that answered why she was sick. I said sometimes she gets constipated so could he check so I would know if to treat her for that. So he did and no, she wasn't. I told him she has a thyroid problem and he saw that in her file and he said well that could be changing and asked if I was still giving her her meds and I said yes. As far as he was concerned that was it. I asked aren't you going to do anything for her. By now one of the aides is in the room and he turns to her and says I could give her a shot for the vomiting but she didn't vomit this morning. By now I'm getting aggravated and repeat She didn't eat last night or this morning! So he finally gives her a shot. I asked if he shouldn't do blood work to see if the thyroid has changed and he says if she throws up again you'll have to bring her back and we'll do it then.... he just didn't seem to want to do anything. He did end up giving her the shot to settle her stomach so she could eat but omg! I like the one she normally has fill in for her but this guy was more interested in telling me about how he goes to the gym and works out and weighs himself every day and.... blah blah blah... than in my cat! Hopefully I won't have to take Miss Ginger back until my real vet is back from vacation.
