You should be aware of the rules of GotPoetry.com. It is strongly suggested you read this page as well as the other documents pages. If you are here for the poetry news and its discussion, great, feel free to skim the rest of this. If you are here to write then read closely You should first post a poem in the workshops. Once you get feedback on your poem you should then add it to the 'finished' poetry section. People will then rate your poem and sometimes leave comments on it, but if you want to develop a poem this is the way to go. There are a few rules to this site If you spam, your account will get suspended - no warning. If you try to use this site to advertise things that are not poetry related, we may also suspend your account - no warning. If you swear at people and act belligerent, we may also decide to suspend your account at any time. We do not delete poems once they are posted here. Those who support the site and purchase a paid membership get a few extras, including the ability to delete their poems. Do not create multiple accounts and pretend to be more than one person, especially do not judge your own poems. We quickly find out and we quickly delete all of your votes and then suspend your account. This site is poetry news and a place for your writing. It is not a video game. Poetry Section You will eventually get a low rating on a poem. It will happen. You many not agree with a comment someone leaves on a poem of yours. Its not the end of the world, its just another person's opinion. The rating scale is 1 to 10 with 5 being average. There is nothing wrong with giving nor receiving an average rating on a poem. Workshop Forums Before posting in the workshop forums, you should read the guidelines here http://www.gotpoetry.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=3117.html. Remember, by posting in the forums you are entering a workshop. Expect people to comment on your poems. Expect some feedback. If you just want to post a few of your poems to get them 'out there', use the Poems section of the site. They will be rated by others. If you don't like your rating, get over it. Its just an integer in a database and not indicative of your self worth. See above on getting suspended for acting beligerant. Your Profile Your profile is the place to see all of your stuff. An easy way to reach your profile is to go to www.gotpoetry.com/USERNAME where Username is the name you signed up with. Submitting content Feel free to submit poetry news and events. Poetry submissions are also accepted. You can make your own photo albums here and upload pictures to the public albums and your personal albums here. There are poetry workshops in the forums. We accept original poetry submissions for publication, we gladly accept poetry events and general poetry news submissions, and we do all of these things here. If you have any problems, requests, or questions you can post them in the help desk forum. Have fun and remember that GotPoetry.com is a community run web site.
