The staff and administrators of GotPoetry.com are pleased to announce the Quarterly Poetry Contest open for all members The winner gets a personalized badge to show off and 300 karma points. All participants will be awarded 100 karma points. Rules 1. Brand new poem. Poems already posted in the finished section will not be accepted. 2. Poem should fit the theme. 3. Poem must fit normal writing standards. No haiku and senryu.. According to GotPoetry Rules, poems must not incorporate "excessive numbers or emoticons, large, small or colored text" and text in all caps or excessive use of punctuation outside of standard usage is prohibited. 4. The whole staff or families of staff are not eligible for this competition. All poems submitted for judging must be submitted on or before the specified date, 12:00 AM (Midnight) Eastern Standard Time, to me via private message. Message subject line must read "Poetry Contest Submission: [Insert Theme Title]". THEME leave the lights on [the contestants can either write a sexual poem or a funny poem to fit this theme] Please submit only one poem. DEADLINE - 20th November

One’s Grave

Deep dark nights await,
the enchanted minds of men.
Whom dare to relax,
amongst the bodies; rotting
in the misty moonlit bog.


A Demon’s Breath

Creatures stir our dreams,
within the darkest nightmares
gaining their powers.
Guiding our steps inwardly
causing our spirit to crack.


I love your spiritual poems, Mamta, most especially "Aura". I have to go back and read it again and again... it's the most exquisite description of the energy field I've ever read!


I think you'd like my poems although its a very different style, more lyrical and its very dark, so prepare yourself for a scare although its very interesting, you should check some of my stuff out if your interested. Have a great day!!!

hi Mamta - my friend Maiyada (i might be spelling it wrong, getting old) is from Abudhabi, as well, but i've lost her since i returned from india...i kind of left a life behind, but i'm sure she's still well living in washington, i'm here in san diego...you look amazingly a lot like her...she's also a brave woman, and she married an american soldier during desert storm...that was a beautiful photo of Abudhabi in your gallery...I've added you as a buddy, i hope you don't mind...i love your work...i hope you get this, cuz i tried to send it once already and i don't know where it went...lol

Hey there...Looks like you've got some competition...Under your own roof Your daughter is very talented indeed, and very polite! I received a PM thanking me for my comment on one of her poems which was very eloquent .
