maryanns's recent Blog entry. Read This if You Dare - Halloween 2014 ( 210 reads) Thursday, October 30, 2014 (16:03:00)

Sometimes the north wind blows
the blankets over my head.
Smothered in shades of blackness
deaf, dumb and blind I am
beginning to roam among the living dead.

The wind howls
but no one hears it

lightning strikes
but no one sees it

hard rain falls
but no one feels it

frost forms
on frozen window panes.

It’s after midnight
cold as hell ...
snow begins to fall
on my icy lawn
where twin red headed
freckle faced witches wait
impatiently at the garden gate …

their merry mother minders
shivering and yawning
through it all.

Perhaps you are unaware …

Sometimes my black cat prowls
around the grounds at night.
Long dead bones of scavengers
overhang my winding lane.
Depart at once; we have no Snickers left!

Happy Halloween!! Razz

I read your page at the start of my day and thought of keeping it reserve to till the end of the day. I want to enjoy my day by imbibing the philosophy mentioned there in. Just great- and I am really fortunate that I found you.

Wishing everyone on GotPoetry a very Merry Christmas (or Happy Holidays, as the case may be) and a very safe, fulfilling and peaceful New Year. Smile

I ditto what Hugh said: may the conscience of GP serve us strength and compassion.

Elect redemption to sever dark intuition.
The night is strung to light; no inhibition.

      Lots of love.

Ahh..Mary Ann, Hello! Been a long time since I've been able to back on this site to read and hopefully write something and post again. I can see why writers need to go live in a solitudinal (Oh...I LOVE to make up my own 'julie-language' ) cabin in the deep woods to get inspired. in the last year I've had teeny tiny bits of inspiration, but if I can't act on them right at that second...they are gone with a resigned sigh.
Yours are among the poems that I want to read first. You never disappoint me. Loved your thoughts about your kitties. We've recently acquired a Yellow Maine Coon called Cornflake, who is the most loving cat I've ever had. However...if he does NOT learn to 'cover his tracks' more appropriately in his litter box......... Rolling Eyes I asked him..."Where in H--L WERE you when your Mama was instructing you on the fine art of 'litter-pan hygiene'????" I'm getting tired of running in there and scratching around!!! MEEOWWWWW!
LOL...luv ya MaryAnn. Thanks for attaching your photos, too! Pritty Kittys. Very Happy
