The sun haunted me even when it wasn't there

Just because the moon is seen through the reflection of the sun
Doesn't mean the sun is responsible for all the moon has become
The way the flowers are pretty even at night
Shows that it isn't just the trick of the light It's in the way stars shine even when they aren't seen
Shows that darkness didn't tell them how to be
And just because you helped me realize I had wings to fly
Doesn't mean I became Icarus when you said goodbye

About this poem

Trying to change oneself based on someone else's opinion doesn't seem imprudent until the person seems to find fault in the changes as well. This poem is a narrative of these changes.
