Please Don't Forget

I wish I would have been there
Been there through it all
I wish I would have been there
To catch you when you fall

I wish I would have been there
To shield you from the rain
To dry your eyes, to brush your hair
Away from all your pain.

Choices made for good or bad
At times in such a haste
To never know as time goes by
Was it all a waste?

Another chance will never be
It cannot be undone
To hit rewind and try again
To be a better husband, father, son.

Yet memories of better times
Much harder to forget
Overwhelm a troubled mind
In place of chance regret.

The weight of things and what they're worth
At times seem rather odd
From birth to death and back again
They're in the hands of God.

If comes a time you have the need
To face your own regret
The best that I can hope for is
My love please don't forget.

This poem is incredibly touching and heartfelt. The emotions conveyed are sincere and genuine, making it a beautiful piece of writing. The imagery of being there to catch someone when they fall and shield them from the rain is powerful and evocative.

One suggestion for improvement would be to perhaps vary the rhyme scheme to add some more depth and complexity to the poem. This could help keep the reader engaged and create a more dynamic flow.

Overall, this poem is a poignant reminder of the importance of cherishing our loved ones and the impact our choices can have on those around us. Keep up the great work!
