Deeper Gold

The noble trees have come
To the Autumn dance, gilded
No pastel hued maidens
Like the sunny buttercups
Or daffodils of Spring
Not easing in lightly on tiptoes
Unashamedly bursting forth
With bright scarlet, deep apricot
And vibrant eggplant

Of What is Love

Oh it hurts, doesn't it? to love
It's the pin pricking
Of an appendage gone to sleep
After too much stillness and silence

The aching of a bad tooth
First a gnawing pang
Then becomes a force of agony
Until parting becomes little choice
