Irish to the Core

Dad's Poem

Bobby was Irish to the core
Like good old 'County Monaghan' lore

Of rugged cliffs and ocean air
Filled with spirit of none-to-care

His ready smile and pat on back
Surely gave you quite a wack

A hearty laugh might ensue

I very much like the message of the poem in today's divided world as the author realizes how poetry and the heart of a word can transcend all cultures, religions, races, and the prevailing dissensions in our current world to find that portal to unite us.
I enjoyed the balance and flow of ideas, thoughts, and cadence in the poem overall. The author has a knack for the written word and poetry.

Hi good day! Happy New Year 2024! I wish you the best.Thank you for tuning in here to my poem,Dads Poem.He was very likable and congenial. An avid reader. He loved a Labatts Blue and a Book!! My mother made him stay in his basement man cave, where he stashed all his books. He loved it down there. One of the family oddities! But thank you for your insightful words on my poem.I had a great time writing it.My brother got mad at me about the procrastination part, but it was true.It was meant to depict who he was.I read your 'Soldier',amazing !! You are a 5 Star Poet!!! lol

Steve,I loved your poem the 'Soldier'.I guess you carry your badge of honor deep inside and hold it close to your heart,a inner flame to remind you of what you did for others that they may or may not appreciate, part of the life of the soldier. But most appreciate and although cannot feel all your pain, shed tears alongside and question like you the senseless act of killing another human being. We do forgive of course and commend your great courage and honorable intent to protect.Fabulous poem and very well written.
