This poem is so effective. I immediately ascribed a type of people/person to this poem - upon reading it I was surprised by its ambiguity, and that there was no mention of a particular place.

The metaphors are beautifully impactful. I felt as though I was having a story from someone’s life recounted to me.

It’s not trying to be too clever, it’s not trying to tell us what it’s about or how we should feel - that’s what I loved the most. There’s so much room for our own lives and the lives of others in this poem. more »
