Analysis of AMERICAN LAMENTATION

The last eagle died,they say
In the darkness of a false night
Does that mean it was a day?
Or without a fuss or fight?
The eagle died
No one cried

The brave lay down, silent, dead
And no one stood in their place
Did they say a word? What was said?
Is there freedom left in their space?
The brave lay down
Fell without a sound

The stars and stripes flew their last
No more do they flap in the breeze
The wind blows empty poles roll past
Just a rustling of forgotten trees
Why's no flag raised,
In these hot summer days?

Your churches are long forgotten
And His Cross is tumbled down
We've turned away the only begotten
And no prayer was lifted as a sound
Did God really turn away?
No, it's we who've Gone astray

This is a land of strife, hate and fraud,
And I've got to say it's no wonder
That this nation once under God,
Is so rapidly a nation going under
For when God we don't trust
Our Nation falls to dust
AMEN

About this poem

Among my people are the wicked who lie in wait like men who snare birds and like those who set traps to catch people. Like cages full of birds, their houses are full of deceit; they have become rich and powerful and have grown fat and sleek. Their evil deeds have no limit; they do not seek justice. They do not promote the case of the fatherless; they do not defend the just cause of the poor. Should I not punish them for this?” declares the Lord. “Should I not avenge myself on such a nation as this? Jerimiah 5: 26-29
