Analysis of I WAS CRUCIFIED

I WAS CRUCIFIED

I look at the fear in your eyes
As you scan the heaven's and search the skies
Do you think for a second I've forgotten you?
Don't doubt for a minute that I'll be true

I am with you in the fire and the lion's den
I was at the beginning and here to the end
I've never walked away; never stepped back
I am the Light when your world turns black
In the shadow of death, my protection is true
In your sleep I comfort you
I climb the hill right by your side
And when the time came---it was I who was crucified

Can you claim a time I wasn't there?
Show me where I didn't answer your prayer
Point to a need I left in need
Ask if you'd be as true in my stead?

I was the food you ate that cold dark night
I was the hand of comfort in your deepest fright
I was the hand that kept you from death's own door
The scout who carried you and led the way before
I was the friend you left by the gate
I am the love that outshines your hate
I am your shelter when you need to hide
And when the time came--I was Crucified

I see you hold your shattered dreams
I heard you cry your broken screams
I lower my hand with dreams so new
My Grand Design is enough for you

I was the wind blowing through your hair
I am the son that shines and warms the air
I am the air you breathe; the food you consume
I am in everything 'cause for me there's no room
Nothing to hold me, no prisons to bar
I am the smallest atom and brightest star
I am everywhere, no where, and right by your side
And when the time came--I was Crucified

I hear you cry, " I just don't understand
How the God of Heave can feel the pain of man?"
You lift up your fears and run away
Crying that you just can't go on this way...

I was the Baby born in a manger
The man none understood; a total stranger
I stood toe-to-toe with the Devil: never backed down
I slept in the country on the cold hard ground
I shouted to those who had clear ears
I prayed and argued as I faced my fears
As the whips tore my back; I too wished to hide
But the time had come and I was Crucified

Remember son I hold you; I'll never walk away
I carried you before; never led you astray
Don't forget me now as times seem so, so good
Walk beside me as a friend and brother should

'Cause I am beside you in this light
I carried you to this height
I stand next to you as happiness appears
I opened your eyes and unstop your ears
I am the Voice that whispers Love to you
I watch in joy at all the good that you do
I am here as you abandon your sin and pride
Laying it before the Cross on which I was Crucified
AMEN
