Analysis of Wings

I dreamed of your wings
A voice as harmonious as an Angel
I heard you sing
I saw the smile I knew
A laughter that filled the sky
It was you
I dreamed of your feet
Dancing, running
Jump roping in the streets
I saw your hands
You painted the flowers and the trees
I felt your spirit through the breeze
I dreamed of your back
As you carried the weight of the world so effortlessly
I heard you speak
In the moments where sadness came
And the times I felt weak
I dreamed of your smile
So genuine, so sweet
I dreamed of you at peace

About this poem

My sister passed away at 33 years old 20plus years past her life expectancy. Even through all the pain and health complications she remained a ray of sunshine and a beacon of hope. I chose to celebrate her life by believing she was able to do all the things cerebral palsy took away from her.
