The Virus 2020

Rona moves among us without revealing that she’s here
drifting in upon the breeze landing gently as the dew
most never feel her kisses soft as sunlight in your hair
but some she strikes like lightning… pray it isn’t you

If you are the chosen then you know she comes at night
infusing your veins with fire amid visions of despair
then piling ice upon your body throwing salt into your eyes
pain and fear your only companions while she lingers there

If you’re lucky then she’ll leave you gasping hard for air
she’ll leave you weak and hollow eyed lying in your bed
but for the ones she’s numbered all bereft of hope
she leaves them cold and alone counted among the dead

Rona isn’t really evil though it’s evil that she does
she has no heart no plan going about her vile task
she travels where she chooses and may revisit once again
all who hope to avoid her – Social Distance – Wear a Mask
